by Disco Tex for the first time in decades. I immediately remembered your
guest shots on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and how those were
some of my favorite shows. I made a mental note to remember to look you
up when I got home, and was very pleasantly surprised to see your web site
and to know that you're still around and being as outrageous as ever.

I love watching your appearances on Johnny Carson, but one that I find
especially inspiring is your 1966 appearance on Merv Griffin (with the
rude and clearly intimidated Henny Youngman) with fellow guest Jane
Mansfield. You were so original, unique, and ahead of your time. I was
only 4 when that show aired. My husband had fond memories of you and found
you on YouTube and I became one of your biggest fans.03/29/2009 - sondra hassman, new york, ny - hassmansondra@monti.com

Hi Monti!
In the mid '60's I was living in Jersey and me and my friends used to hang
out in NYC on the weekends - in the Village and Sundays at CBS studios for
the Ed Sullivan Show. We used to run into you alot on the street. Remember
the Cheetah Club across the street from CBS? And you were always on Merv
Griffin's show. Alot of fun back then. It's good to know that you're still
around and hopefully you're having a good life!

I have been a fan of yours for many years. I was young but remember your
appearances on Johnny Carson. Your rendition of "Love is in the Air" is
much better than John Paul Young's. Will you be appearing in the N.Y. area
any time soon. My adult son is now also a new fan of yours. I'd love to
catch your act. Do you have a fan club?03/06/2009 - mark horton, norwood, mass -

Hey Monte...Glad to know you are still around!!!How come Letterman or Leno
won't book you, while the "king" of late-nite, Mr. Johnny Carson did
frequently. You were/are so-o-o-o-o-o-o- ahead of your time it makes my
mind spin. When I see today's "celebrities", I usually wanna barf...If you
catch my barf. By the way, were you ever a friend of the Ramones? (on my
alltime best 3 rockbands list)...I think you and them have a similar je ne
sais quoi. Agree, mon ami? Love to hear from you. You gave me many many
moments of tv plezzzzsshaaa....in my younger daze. How about Andy Kaufman?
Again, I see the same sort of territory. So, if you would like to converse
withan olde "friend" (H. Horton,jr.-you can call me Howard, youcan call me
"H", you can call me junior, but ya doesnn't have to call me MR. HORTON.

wow, finally able to track down Monti. First time I heard of him was in 16
magazine(yes)I wasn't yet 16.Just a photo of a serene and pensive Monti
and it said: "he's as far out as they come.." Then I saw him on Merv
Griffin show which I watched every day. He looked a lot different in
Saturday Night Fever. thanx

oh yeah! and Monti was looking reflectively down to the side and behind
him was stained glass suspended on a frame. Quite striking.02/22/2009 Kent "Kenny" Gomez, Hollywood,

You might possibly remember me. I played piano with your brother Dave
Montagne on many occasions. I accompanied you with the Willie Colon band

Dear Monti -I'm not sure you'll remember me (1968 or so was a long time
ago). I was married to my wife Barbara at the time and we always went to
the Salvation (one Sheridan Square). Barbara always gave you her earings
(you called them Puerto Rican screws). We used to go out and take a smoke
break at the club. We always hung out with Frankie Crocker. I remember
asking you where you got your suits made and I gave you the name of my
tailor. I remember we all went to an after hours club somewhere in the
Village with Moe St. Cross. It was a real fun time back then - hope you're
doing well - I'll never forget those days. Please write or call if you

Dear Monti,
It was not until November of 2004 that I first heard Disco Tex and The
Sex-O-Lettes. My manger at work gave me your original LP record and told
me to check it out. Within the first song I was hooked! A hobby of mine is
taking video my friends and I having a good time and then making edited
videos of the footage. After a while I put these videos on my personal
website. As a tribute to your music I used the Disco Tex record as the
theme to a Pimp's and Hoe's theme party we all attended. Made music videos
using the songs. Then all my friends were looking to buy that same record!
You can view the video on my personal website http://monti.com.
We make no profit on our videos there simple made to entertain friends and
to practice on video editing.

Monti....I've told you in private and am proud to say it in
public, it was an honor to be in the audience on your opening night at
the Castaways. You still have what Las Vegas has been lacking for
years-charisma, humor and the talent to make an audience applaud,
laugh and and go home with a smile.... and Jay Leno has to have hired
help hold up signs to order his audience to to do those things or
they'd just sit there in dead silence. Nobody does it better than you

Hi Monti! I saw you on TV in the early days and immediately new I
was witnessing 'Charisma' personified! Soon after I heard and loved
"For Days" and have been looking for a recording of it since.
However, what really cemented my admiration of you Monti was the classy
and reserved way you handled the abuse forced on you, on the tonight show,
by (I believe) Henny Youngman. You were so far ahead stylistically and
socially that the old buzzard couldn't handle it. The incident only showed
which was the person you'd want to admire or associate with (wow, I
could only imagine). The Best of Everything for you Monti!04/22/2004 -

Looking for a song you did on the Merv Griffen show years age
titled "I'm afraid the masquerade is over". Do you know if
it was ever recorded on to a 45 or LP? How can I find a copy of it?
Here are the lyrics, and below is a complete list of the artists who
recorded that song.
I'm afraid the masquerade is over (Herb Magidson / Allie Wrubel)
My blue horizon is turning gray
And my dreams are drifting away
Your eyes don't shine like they used to shine
And the thrill is gone when your lips meet mine
I'm afraid the masquerade is over
And so is love, and so is love
Your love and so is love
I guess I'll have to play Pagliacci and get myself a clown's
disguise
And learn to laugh like Pagliacci with tears in my eyes
You look the same
You're a lot the same
But my heart says "No, no, you're not the same"
I'm afraid the masquerade is over
And so is love, and so is love
Your words don't mean what they used to me
They were once inspired, now they're just routine
I'm afraid the masquerade is over

Hi Monte, Just wanted to say that while in the closet in the
NAVY - during Vietnam war eons ago, I saw you on the Carson show
singing "Don't Compromise" or something like that. I knew
what you were saying to all of the closeted gay and lesbian people out
in the viewing world.. It helped me! Thanks!

Im a very old friend of Monty´s first from NY then from
Miami. We have lost touch since he moved to Vegas and I to
Spain. I would love for him to contact me so we can renew our
friendship even if its long distance. He was like a second son
to my mom and we all loved him very much. Please give him this
mail personally. Thank you. Curra

Monti....I've told you in private and am proud to say it in
public, it was an honor to be in the audience on your opening night at
the Castaways. jvimi@jvim.com You still have what Las Vegas has been lacking for
years-charisma, humor and the talent to make an audience applaud,
laugh and and go home with a smile.... and Jay Leno has to have hired
help hold up signs to order his audience to to do those things or
they'd just sit there in dead silence. Nobody does it better than you
darling! (I can't wait for the book!) I have to tell you-you're doing
a terrific job with the Monti website. Very few celebrity
websites are as informative and sincere as yours (and the others are rarely
updated or kept current). It's obvious you've put a lot of hours
into building and maintaining the site. Keep up the good work! -
Regards, Kathy Redle

Enjoyed you when you were
on the various tv shows years ago. Coming to LV in October to
celebrate daughter's 10th anniversary-she married at the Chapel of the
West Oct. 16, 1993. Coming with 7 other members of family - 10
in all. Read you give tours? Do you? How Much? Again, haven't heard about you for a long time but when surfing the LV
website for entertainment to see in October, found you!!!
